This is amazing! Thank you for this video and insights- and trust that Iβd be following right behind!
Living my dream life
Now here where i wanna go. I feel like being in a anime. Japan so beautiful
your squad is very eager to see more of it sir π
I watched this video back when it first dropped and I really wanted to go here after during my first eventual trip to Japan. This past Dec/Jan when I finally visited Japan, We stayed in Magome for 2 days and was definitely a highlight of our trip. We stayed at the Magome Chaya guesthouse. A very nice an inexpensive stay. Very traditional and surprisingly English fluent staff Mogome at night was so nice with all the lights and the watermills. Very cozy. A bit cold but it was just about New Years Eve lol.
We walked the Nakasendo to Tsumago the next day. It was really nice. We walked through that garden too. The sign said something along the lines of "Don’t be upset if you ended up being disappointed taking the detour" lol We had a little bit of bad luck/good luck once we got to Tsumago. Since it was the day before new years eve the bus to get back scheduled stops were reduced….and we had less than 30min to see what we could of Tsumago before hurrying back to the stop so we didnt get to see much but there was this elder gentleman selling freshly made red bean paste buns and they were so good i bought an extra lol.
Spent one more night in Magome before heading to Kyoto for New Years. If I ever visit Japan again I’ll be coming back for sure. Thank you for showing me this amazing side of Japan!
I stayd until the endπππ»β€new subscriberπ€©ππ»
Wow….Your video is amazing! I loved every bit of it especially your walks through the forest. I love to walk in countryside like that, but here in England, it isn’t safe anymore sadly. It’s not bears that we have to watch but humans attacking us….especially women. I loved your delight and excitement when you found the cobble stones on the trail that you had seen before! You know, like you, I feel very drawn to going to Japan. I don’t know if you are on holiday there or whether you live there, but I did notice you can read Japanese. Thank you for this interesting video. I subscribed to your channel π
In western society a post town would have been called an outpost.
I can confirm that this is an absolute gem of a place.
I’m going in two weeks and your video has made me so excited. Love your positive mindset and how you appreciate all the little things.
Favourite youtube video of all time
I’ve always loved this video Norm! You inspired me to start my own channel. Thanks for doing what you do!
Amazing video, ez sub
looks amazing….almost unreal… thank you
I will be there soon
3:37 is a spectacular capture
To this day, one of my favorite vlogs of yours. Must have watched this at least 5 times already!
Did this with my brother in 2019, and as a westerrn Canadian thought nothing of the bear signs (Japan doesn’t have grizzlies right?) We were stupid lol. If you get the chance to do this trail, make sure you stop at the tourist/town info buliding in either town and get your certificate of completion!! It’s printed and stamped on a thin piece of wood
Beautiful, and very well chosen music. The very sounds accentuate your appreciation. Thanks for such beautiful and inspiring views! Keep em coming!
Was planning to go to nakasendo for my Japan trip this year, but sadly couldn’t do it. But I’ll hike there the next time I’m in Japan
Magnifique! Thank you very much for this useful video.
How long does it takes to walk trough it?
alright. it’s time guys. i’m attempting it guys…after 100 times of watching this video.
I am about to attempt it myself on a solo travel trip.
I’m going to document the process on my youtube channel, just started it so we’ll see how this goes for this location.
starting from tokyo then across japan to nagoya and nakasendo and shirakawago.
then i’m heading to hiroshima and fukuoka.
let’s hope we make it all in pieces, safe and sound. – check my youtube as I will try this next month to attempt it.
Also from canada
yeah i think this one is awesome too, norm cant wait for you to go on another adventure
Hi Norm. Because of this video, my wife and I went to visit this amazing area of Japan 3 weeks ago and stayed in Magome-Juku for 2 nights and also hiked to Tsumago. That was the highlight of our trip and we will keep the memory for ever. Just came here to thank you for the amazing content . We felt the energy of this place as you express in this video. thank you
Many thanks for sharing these beautiful impressions with us!
I’ve tears in my eyes and know that some day I too will be hiking across Japan!
Thanks again as well as most health, peace, love and happiness to each and everyone!
One Love!
Always forward, never ever backward!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ONE.π₯°
Okay, gonna get maudlin here… Whenever I see you get practically incendiary with happiness over a place or a view or a sight or sound or experience, it’s like I can practically wave at you from across many, many miles and go "HI! I KNOW THAT FEELING!" and realize that other people feel the same explosion of joy over a personal thing– a rock on the side of the road, sunrise on a path you’ve wanted to walk, the view from high up over a place to beautiful and strange to be real but which is. Thanks for this; it’s nice to know that other people out there are feeling this too, because it’s just too good not to be shared.
bro you have changed my life thanks a lot
dude, I love these videos. The music, sounds and cinematography fill me with emotion. Wonder, desire, whimsey? I canβt pin point it, but great job Norm π

This video was gorgeous, i really want to do this hike now!
I walked a section of the Nakasendo Trail this past spring. What a great experience! I highly recommend it to everyone. Thanks for the video π

β¦.lovely ! Thank u !
My most favorite video to come back to when I need to relax at my desk. Have a lovely day Norm and thank you for this beautiful video β€οΈ
Jan 8, 2024, and I’ve been out sick with covid since 12/28. Your videos have been keeping entertained so far. Thank you, Norm! ππ·
The Zelda music β€
The music might be the loveliest of any Iβve heard on a YouTube channel.
I’m not usually part of the comment-squad, but wanted to let you know this video brought me such immense peace. Thanks Norm. :’D
Just did this trail from Nakatsugawa (near station) to Tsumago-juku and it was equal parts fun, gorgeous and terrifying. The terrifying bit was probably the whole miscalculating how much daylight I had and having to hike back on the train in the dark but an experience is an experience! But i don’t think I want to experience 32km again any time soon. π The towns in between, the vistas and waterfalls, all gorgeous! I certainly won’t forget this hike.
Your voice is really soothing. It’s fascinating to hear you talk about this with so much enthusiasm. It truly makes the video feel magical. I’m excited to walk the trail myself. Thank you.
That night look gives me spirited away vibes
I know this video is old but my fiancΓ© and I will be hiking the trail during the spring. I was told that bear spray is illegal!?
I think, it will be much better if you show us the area not yourself, tq
What is the name of the music at the beginning of the video?
Also beautiful β¦I wish I can go there..really bad π’
Love this. I need to go explore in Japan.
Love the video, thanks for the upload! Hope I can visit Japan one day π
