A few months back we experimented with ironing plastic bags into sheet material, which worked great and we made a couple of card wallets. But we wanted to go bigger and really test the capabilities of this ‘plastic leather’. In this video, we made two big sheets, around 8-10 layers thick. Then we tried our very best to make it as strong as possible to see if could hold our weight as a piece of furniture.
We’d love to hear your ideas for other uses for this material. Drop us a comment below and maybe we’ll use your idea in a future video. Thanks for watching! 🤙🏽

Music by Epidemic Sound
You could have woven the strips through the bench without taking it apart?
Por favor, legende em português!!!!
That’s pretty cool
😊
That is some Ghetto Flintstones looking furniture. I love it and hate it. 😆👍
No thanks id rather make my own clothing using thing nature like ancestors good idea for people who want to do it tho saves money
Helpful

Quanto tempo da 0 a panchina, seduto nel prato?
How about indoor outdoor rugs for camping?
umbrellas?
could you have fed the strips through a laminating machine?
That was i was looking for thank you
If you F up and get any plastic on your iron just rub a Tylenol caplet (not capsule) on your hot iron. Magic
Bellissimo!❤❤❤
Just found your channel. (Binging now…)
What is the temp the plastic starts to deform? As I live in the Midwest of the US and it gets over 90 (sometimes into triple digits) on the summer.
Would hate to do all that work for something outside only to have it get ruined in the heat of summer
Looks like Mr. Beast’s smarter brothers 😎
I love up-cycling ! Can’t help wondering about microplastic exposure
I mean, finding one more use for a material that lasts about 1000yrs isn’t really that beneficial to the planet, but it is thrifty.
I bet ironing plastic bags together into sheets would be good as pond lining. That stuff is the most expensive part of the pond!
Does this process of heating plastic or melting plastic create any hazardous fumes?
It is so cool.
I was excited but all I have are the thin ass kroger bags that are essentially single use because they’re so thin, full of holes from all the corners from things you’ve put in them….
You guys are amazing! You could turn it into a business! What do you do with the plastic left over shavings?
I love the bench chair, it looks really cool! My idea for plastic recycling is to make dildos.
I just thought of an idea. What about a Sleeping Bag. Like outside made of the Plastic Bag Sheet inside Fabric. Filler between it all like Cotton, Wool, Rabbit Fur (Like from a Brushed Rabbit. Rabbit Fur is so soft.) or Feathers.
It’s horrible design
I would like to make a play matt for my grandchildreen
Great wat to re use plastic waste. It could definitely help to reduce the amount of new plastic being made. Unfortunately, all plastic still ends up in the land fill, re using it or recycling it just delays it’s trip

Looks great! I wonder if the plastic would possibly sag a bit on a hot sunny day while someone sits in it or if it would remain pretty stable even with repeated use.
3 piece suit please!!
Total fail. I bought $1000 worth of new equipment, followed the bros precisely, found a field, sat for hours and no horses came to talk to me. Definitely false advertising.
How much of the toxic chemicals gets absorbed by your body, I really hate to think!!!
All plastic’s chemical bonds will weaken during the exposure to heat and the toxins will leach out to the environment.
Plastics with strong smell are of very cheap quality and we should never have them at home.
Please, please be careful and preferably wear a respirator if you insist on ironing these plastic bags.
Your lungs aren’t easily fixable and you’ll only know that the damage is done when you wake up one day unable to take a deep breath.
This often happens to people who use epoxy resins without respirator.
The deep parts of their lungs will get damaged so badly that taking a normal breath is just impossible.
Please take care. ❤
I love it make better to recycle plastic 👍👍🥰🥰
Awesome Idea. Anything to save marine animals. Thanks to you both we can now.
Ikea is shaking 🫣
Good idea, i have so much from parcel.
Non parli logicamente in italiano e non lo sono neanche i sottotitoli… 🤔😁
I’d have imagine that sewing this would compromise it’s structure, like some harder plastic packages that unavoidably tear with any hole on them, only somewhat slower than that.
Thank you for sharing your ideas ❤
I hope you are not using your cutting mat under that hot iron. 👍
Thanks that’s cool
Me at the beginning of the video: Hey, I can do that!
End of the video: I don’t know how to do any of that.

I’d imagine that perhaps if the strip format was imagined as the goal beforehand, perhaps instead of ironing them all flat, one could instead twist them into "strings" and even tie some of them together, which in a way makes of a single bag a multi-layered thing, in a way, not totally literal, but sort of. I also wonder whether ironing is the most effective unsophisticated DIY method, maybe "baking" them in the oven somehow would be simpler and use less energy? Although I don’t have from the top of my head some way of doing it that wouldn’t risk making a terrible stinky mess if something goes wrong, not even some obvious way to even put them there in some kind of surface they’d not stick to, discounting accidentally melting/burning them. Rather interesting anyway. One thing I imagine it can perhaps work nicely for is to seal holes in tarps, assuming the materials of both would melt together to some degree. In some places I think plastic bags are no longer real plastic but some cellulosic thing that kind of feels like plastic but must have completely different properties, biodegradable, better for the environment, but not suited to this kind of reuse, at least not without some kind of impermeabilizing coat or layer of some sort, besides a different method altogether to fuse them, probably some kind of glue, if that’s worthwhile at all.
Maybe toxic when heated?
Спасибо за видео. Не очень хорошо видно как и на что клеили. Идея хорошая. 🌺🥨🍺
I love it!!!
Love this idea.
I do have I guess it would be a challenge.
What can you come up with for the plastic stripes for holding you 6 packs. I cut them up in tiny pieces a put them in a plastic bottle. Very time-consuming.
I don’t like the idea of animals getting stuck in them. And I don’t want them eating it either. So cutting them up and putting them in a bottle was what I came up with. But after finding you guys, I think there has to be a better way. Any thoughts?
Good luck. Can’t wait to hear what you come up with.
I’m cutting my bags into yarn and crocheting it into padding for under rugs. It goes quickly while watching tv, and that carpet padding is crazy-expensive!
I minimize my use of plastic bags by having one reliable shopping bag and then I use any plastic bags to get rid of trash/recycling. I love how you are making useful things like chairs and other furniture though. More power to you.
