Hello John! Please tell me more about the B.C wolf culling and how the government carry out with audacity to continue despite public oppositional voice please post to me

  4. @matthewread7220 on September 6, 2024 at 4:08 pm

Yet again more persecution of the wolf. Funny how we forget that without wolves we wouldn’t have had dogs, and by having dogs helped people get to the stage we could build civilisations

  5. @jsc3417 on September 6, 2024 at 4:08 pm

Why did the local government even allows trophy hunting?

  6. @timothywright1318 on September 6, 2024 at 4:11 pm

I’ve wanted to make a shirt that states, β€œBanff National Park: Habituating Wildlife Since 1885.” I hated the 2017 β€œbirthday gift” to Canadians. It ruined Banff and Waterton, making them near unenjoyable, and even stressful to visit.

Absolutely heartbreaking. If we must visit, we must visit responsibly. And vote against those who wants to defund nature reserves/parks like this.

    Good video quality!

Can’t say anything about your situation over in Canada. I am from Europe. And the video is already 5 years old.

But, in Germany we have a lot of "non government" organizations which say they work for the protection of wildlife. But the truth is, a lot of it is business.

Plus the ones which lead this organizations very often a no real experts. Which automatically means, it is a dead end from the start, for the wildlife.

The "normal" people mostly have no idea what is really going on, and based on that don’t know what they are doing.

  12. @koolkutz7 on September 6, 2024 at 4:20 pm

Sadly this seems to be the case the world over. As a keen wildlife observer & photographer I feel we are the problem. On the one hand we want access to wildlife, build nice reserves and then they become overrun with vistors (a victim of their own success). I once visited a popular reserve in the UK which has lots of seabirds such as Gannets, Razorbills, Puffins etc. But it was packed with us all trying to view these birds and it was not an enjoyable experience at all. As I live in a city there are only a few wildlife/nature hotspots which again get full of people, which can cause problems for the birds, particularly Swans which get attacked by dogs who have been let off their leads by owners. One local reserve now has a vistor centre, cafe, children’s playground, cycle hire and a remote control boat club which use the lake! It is a wonder that the birds have not vacated and gone somewhere else. And don’t get me started on dog walkers or drones!

This is what happen when you create God into your own image and after your like this, everything else has no right to exist except for those things that look like you and when it threatens your so call way of life it should not exist.

I’ve seen Grizzlies, Black bears, Elk, Foxes, Coyotes, Mountain Goats and Deer here in Banff but no Wolves. Would be so cool to see them !

  20. @richarddower9134 on September 6, 2024 at 4:28 pm

I certainly hope things have improved in Banff. Jolly good work. And for trophy πŸ† hunting I hope severe fines and penalties are in place unless it’s protecting one’s life

    Parks get "loved" to death.

  22. @petesil005 on September 6, 2024 at 4:30 pm

The reason is because wildlife doesn’t payπŸ™‚

  23. @galaxytraveler5779 on September 6, 2024 at 4:32 pm

Is that a massive upswing due to overseas tourism??

  24. @climbeverest on September 6, 2024 at 4:34 pm

Why not increase park entrance fees to $20 per day, and make it cheaper or free for only confirmed poor/underprivileged Canadians?

  25. @RosieOutdoors on September 6, 2024 at 4:34 pm

Thank you for creating and sharing this video. It’s so perfectly explained. I visited Banff & Jasper three years ago; I saw bears for the first time, but then I soon saw people behaving like idiots trying to get as close to them as possible. After seeing that, and speaking with a local, it broke my heart that this place is being loved to death. That trip started me on a path to a career in wildlife tourism research, and I hope that somehow some of my research might help places like Banff become more sustainable.

  26. @theo-qd6tx on September 6, 2024 at 4:36 pm

    Thank you

Banff is beautiful, but overrated. There are many other amazing quiet spots I prefer to visit 😊

    What a f*****g disgusting park

  29. @jcamillo66 on September 6, 2024 at 4:42 pm

Wolves are so beautiful and misunderstood. I’m absolutely obsessed with helping them anyway I can.

  30. @dhand34 on September 6, 2024 at 4:43 pm

You should do another one of these. You were exactly right. A fed wolf just attacked a camper

  31. @mirsad96 on September 6, 2024 at 4:43 pm

Anything for profit. Capitalism is a cancer on the planet.

  32. @jarjarabrams7748 on September 6, 2024 at 4:44 pm

It’s gonna sound controversial but in National Parks the rights of the animals should trump those of humans – wolves shouldn’t be shot for becoming accustomed to the food left by us. And if humans get hurt as a result, then that’s just the way it is – we are in their domain after all. The decision to shoot those two wolves has essentially almost wiped out the Bow Valley pack. Incidentally, I saw one of the pack south of Banff, near Sulphur Mountain last summer. It was only a brief sighting, but it was stunning nonetheless – no attempt was made to follow me.

  33. @LaurenceDay-d2p on September 6, 2024 at 4:45 pm

Banff park should be expanded to allow the wolves to roam.

  34. @korygarwasiuk4341 on September 6, 2024 at 4:46 pm

    This guy is delusional!

    "The Banff town wolf pack"

    First off what is that?

Are you saying there is a wolf pack that exists in a town?
    You give it a name?
    What is natural about that?

You are trying to make a point that you humans, that own a camera are sad that wolves are "scavenging" garbage?

What the F do you expect?

This is not a natural environment! This is a man made eco system and you are surprised?
What is your point? What do you expect? Blow up the town of BANFF so that your wolves can go back to living a normal life!

Man and wildlife will not co exist in perfect harmony ever! There will always, and obviously be modifications to human and animal behavior.

People like you are asking why? Is Banff a havin for tourism and a nightmare for wolves and other wildlife?

    Are you fucking serious?

You cant possibly be that stupid?

This guy wants to live in a national park, full of wildlife, in a town or city and have everything in mother nature be perfect? So that he can take his camera and shoot pictures of bears, wolves, and other wildlife from the edge of town, from the edge of a paved highway, minutes from the comfort of his house, for his convenience and somehow blame population, human encroachment for the imbalance of natural existence?

Ive seen this guy take a helicopter right to bears so he can try and take pictures of them…. What is natural about that? What is this guy complaining about anyway? That he wants everything to be easier for him to take pictures?

Then he says he is exposing us to the impact of development of Banff to the impact on wildlife?
Thanks Captain Obvious!! What would we do without you!? I really needed you to tell all of us that as we build communities into rural areas that would effect your ability to take these bullshit pictures you take that know one cares about!

I think we should do what we can to make sure that this douche can continue to fuel his passion of taking pictures of wild animals in a man made environment because it fits his ideology.

Wolves do not positively influence the size of the population of there prey!! Total bullshit!

Wolves are savages! They kill and kill and kill! Wolves kill horses, they kill cows, and other domestic livestock! They also kill wildlife for sport! They kill animals even when they are not hungry for the sake of training there pups! They kill for sport just to correct you on this! Wolves are selfish and they will kill wildlife just so they have fresh meat and they do not have to chew on meat in the winter that is frozen like rock! They will kill just so they have something fresh! Fact!!!

Wolves were re introduced to Yellowstone? Everyone please look into the impact of the growing wolf pack sizes in Yellowstone and see what effect its had! Not a positive one!

This guy saw his first wolf off the Trans Canada Highway! A man made road that if it didnt exist he never would have seen his first wolf. Now its his agenda to limit human and man made existence so he can see more wolves?

If you want to see wolves in there natural environment then get off your butt and out of a National Park and explore BC, Yukon, NWT, and see wolves in an actual natural environment. Not try and film wolves next to a town! While expressing your concern for an unnatural setting in witch these wolves live in.

Just listen to how he has so called followed these packs in the Bow Valley, Banff, and the "Current town Pack" All places that have made it extremely convenient for him to travel due to man made corridors.

This is not a guy that lives in a tent for weeks on end, snowshoes into the true wild places to film and document animals being wild in wild places. He literally wants to film wolves behind WalMart and complain how the subjects he is filming are not able to be natural…….

Watch the video…..his footage is on or right beside roads!!!!

If you are a wild animal, or a human being and you cant get out of the way of a train your about to be a part of a stand up comedy sketch!

Guess what bud! Wild animals die! Its a thing, you want to try and make it dramatic that wolves died? Then do the same for every prey animal that has been hamstrung, taken down and ripped apart limb by limb by any wolf pack even while still alive. Wolves begin to eat there pray while its fully erect, alive, and breathing.

    Poor wolves!!

These so called companies were fined for complacency with garbage for $1000. Would you be happy if it was $10,000? What would you be happy with? Nothing! There is no making people like this happy! They love to whine and complain and even that does not make them happy.

This park is in serious trouble? There has been a golf course there longer than you have been alive….. What would you like to be done? Let’s reverse time and bulldoze the town of Banff so that it can go back to its natural state of wildlife, living and dieing.

The animals that call it home?

Fine, put up a fence and keep all the animals out of the town then. Let them all continue to do what wild animals do. Your right! Wild animals dont belong in town. There are a million acres they can exist in. Lets let them do that, and keep them out of town. If we can fence our highways to keep them safe then let’s fence the town. Oh wait then you might have to drive an hour on a man made logging road so you can take a photo of them for your scrap book that know one cars about!

I wonder how much actual money this hippy takes from his wallet and contributes to his own concern!? Im willing to bet not much! Put your money where your mouth is instead of calling everyone else out!

This guy is basing what he sees on the sate of a National Park on what happen’s in a tiny little town. Instead base the state of a National Park on the entire Park itself instead of 10 square kilometers.

Parks Canada is contributing to the diversity of the parks wildlife! Its a park isnt it? What if it was not a park? Then it would be like the rest of ALBERTA! Flourishing with wildlife! Maybe thats the issue! Lets not have it be a Park! Then who would you blame?

Im willing to bet this guy lives in a house made of wood! But bitches about logging! He probably also thinks sweat shops and child labour is a sin. Yet his clothes are made in china! He is id assume against expansion in the park….. but travels the road systems to take pictures of wild animals. Any two year old with a camera can go to Banff and take pictures of wildlife thanks to growth and man made expansion of the area.

"Our wildlife and our wolves are suffering" First off there not "ours" And yes you tool, wildlife may suffer inside a city or town! What is your point! Wolves are healthier then ever outside our town and cities in both Alberta and British Columbia! So what is your goal here? To have wolf packs flourish in the middle of a town?

This guy is filming domestic wolves traveling down roadways and railroads!

You are worried about the increase of visitors to the town? You are worried about the impact of the towns wolf pack? Do you see how stupid this sounds? Obviously not. Gee i wish the towns wolf pack could flourish….. Wolf packs do not belong in towns!!! Transport them! Get them out of town and let the economy prosper instead of worrying about wolves living in town. The Park is huge!!

The Federal Government has real issues to worry about in this time, never mind your towns wolf pack!

I don’t think i seen a single picture of a wolf in the wild, every picture taken was on a road or railroad! Get out and actually take photos of wild animals in the wild.

    Very misleading video!!

A place like Banff is like letting people into a zoo with no fences and expecting everyone to coexist. This is not a wild place, drive 30km and your in the wild and then comment on whats really going on.

  35. @ericchaboyer2116 on September 6, 2024 at 4:48 pm

I got chased by a wolf!! It’s was gigantic and scary I even sustained a serious injury to my quad cause I ran fasted I’ve ever ran before lol. This was in 2018. People said there are no wolves there at that time. But I am 100% it was a wolf.

  42. @Chipdenn on September 6, 2024 at 4:52 pm

this is really sad, all over the world, Africa, Asia, USA, Canada and etc.. their govt always take profit first before wild lives
8 wolves killed within a year, that is such a heartbreaking number considering they are few to begin with.
The planet is just over populated and we humans are slowly destroying it by killing wild lives through poaching, trophy hunting and sometimes simply we think they are an inconvenience….
Having said that. this is a really beautiful videos and i thoroughly enjoy every videos from Mr. John Marriott, Thanks you for sharing

    Humans are morons

  44. @dannydanko4627 on September 6, 2024 at 4:57 pm

When we start focusing on the human tourism aspect of these national parks and less on the well being of the animals i think weve lost our way.

  45. @andrasiboti on September 6, 2024 at 4:57 pm

Sometimes, I feel, it would be better for the Wildlife [and us too, sometimes] if most of the Wildlife viewing tourism, was reduced to installing more live Cameras in the wilderness, so people could watch the Animals, from their homes… Sadly, that way, they wouldn’t make so much money, quite the contrary actually…
